Notes from the Director
Wow………..This summer was a blur. Salida’s dance card was filled to the brim with activities and tourists. Did anyone else have trouble finding a parking place in town? Reports from across the spectrum seem to indicate that we had a fantastic season. I’ve heard several businesses report 25-30% increases over their best years. It just felt like everything came together to make this a summer to remember. Congratulations to all who helped the cause.
Knowing everyone had a great time visiting, let’s look forward to next year and even more activity.
Over the past three or four weeks we have helped a large number of folks looking to relocate to our area. We are hoping this is an early signal that real estate sales and housing construction will soon be on the rise. In addition, we have received several calls from businesses that are considering a move to our area. Lots of tire kicking right now, but at least we have some folks looking.
The Chaffee County Visitor’s Bureau is financing yet another round of 15 second commercials airing on COMCAST cable channels throughout Colorado. Once again 2.6 million viewers will have the opportunity to catch a peak at us with an invitation to “Just Get Hereâ€. These ads will run until the end of October. Much of our summer success can be attributed to the ads that ran in March, April and May. It pays to advertise.
Thanks to every organization for hosting an event that drew guests to Salida this summer. Thanks to every business that made our guests feel welcome. Together we will continue to offer our guests a truly quality experience in the place we get to call Home.
Have a great September and see you again in October.
Best regards,
John Engelbrecht
Executive Director
