Words from the Director - August 2010
Wow!!! Can you believe how busy town has been? I’m impressed every time I’ve gotten out of the office to run errands or go to appointments. The word on Salida has made it to the masses and we are reaping the rewards. We all appreciate the fact that the recession is still here and will continue to be a burr in our blanket for some time to come. With that said we all need to be grateful for the success that Salida is experiencing. This summer promises to be the start of better times to come as more folks get a taste of Salida and make plans to return. Everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for all the combined efforts to attract guests to our town. Way to go Salida, you’ve once again proved that working together brings great results.
After the last golf tournament in May, several sponsors and players asked if we could do another golf outing. We put our heads together and came up with the 1St Annual Chamber Open. Here are the details.
The Salida Chamber is pleased to present our first edition of the “Chamber Open”. Eighteen teams will compete in a nine hole scramble format to be held on Friday, August 13th at the Salida Golf Club. The 3:00pm shotgun start will ensure the golfers are finished in plenty of time for the “all you can eat BBQ” that starts at 6:00pm with a cash bar. There will be a special Happy Hour from 4-7pm with great door prizes and is open to the public with music by Salida’s own Dogman starting at 5:00pm. Make sure you thank United Country Premier Brokers and Colorado Vacation Homes for bringing Dogman to the party.
We invite everyone to get a four person team together with at least one member of the opposite sex. Cost for the tournament is just $160 per team. Our member businesses are generously sponsoring the tournament and donating the door prizes. Be sure to let them know how much you appreciate their support.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams for low gross and low net, as well as longest drive and closest to the pin for men and women.
Golf, food, fun, great music, lots of friends, door prizes,…………sounds like the perfect Friday in Paradise to me. Make plans today to join us for this special time. For more details and team reservations call the Chamber today at 539-2068.
I know everyone is busier than a one armed paper-hanger so I’ll let you go.
Have a great August.
John
