Garner Free Press with a Press Release

Submitting press releases is one of the most cost-effective ways to promote your business or non profit organization. Many entrepreneurs and organization leaders ignore this type of promotion because they don't know how to write a press release. Take advantage of this great free opportunity to let people know about your business. Here are some great tips for writing a press release.

1. Your press release should sound like news, not an advertisement.
2. You should only send your press release to the media related to the topic of your press release.
3. Keep your press release one page in length.
4. Your header, contact information, and release date should be at the top of your press release.
5. Use short sentences and double space in between sentences.
6. Make sure your header and first few sentences capture the reader's attention.
7. You should tell a story and briefly mention your business, product, or service in the body of the press release.
8. Proof read your press release many times. Be sure to look for spelling and grammatical errors.
Many times, business people simply do not recognize or understand what is newsworthy. Use your imagination. There are many appropriate topics for business people to consider…..
1. New products or services you're offering on your web site.
2. The results of a survey or poll you've completed.
3. A virtual trade show or seminar you're hosting.
4. A free chat room class you're teaching.
5. The opening of one of your new web sites.
6. An award your business or web site has won.
7. A free e-mail or physical newsletter you're publishing.
8. New products or services you're giving away.
9. An business association or club you're starting.
10. A famous person that's endorsing your business.
11. A major joint venture you're doing with another business.
12. A new book or e-book you wrote.
13. An expert or celebrity who's speaking in your chat room or at your store.
14. A fund raising event.
15. A new contest or sweepstakes you're having.

Begin today to develop ideas about topics you can submit to the media to help promote your business. Get the attention you deserve by keeping the public informed and up to date on your efforts.
Have a great October,

John Engelbrecht

Halloween Safety Tips

When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead.

Do not search the basement, especially if the power has gone out.

If your children speak to you in Latin or any other language which they should not know, shoot them immediately. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run. However, it will probably take several rounds to kill them, so be prepared. This also applies to kids who speak with somebody else's voice.

When you have the benefit of numbers, NEVER pair off and go it alone.

As a general rule, don't solve puzzles that open portals to Hell.

Never stand in, on, or above a grave, tomb, or crypt. This would apply to any other house of the dead as well.

If you're searching for something which caused a loud noise and find out that it's just the cat, GET OUT!

If appliances start operating by themselves, do not check for short circuits; just get out!

Do not take ANYTHING from the dead.

If you find a town which looks deserted, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't stop and look around.

If you're running from the monster, expect to trip or fall down at least twice. Also note that, despite the fact that you are running and the monster is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you.

If your companions suddenly begin to exhibit uncharacteristic behavior such as hissing, fascination for blood, glowing eyes, increasing hairiness, and so on, kill them immediately.

If your car runs out of gas at night on a lonely road, do not go to the nearby deserted looking house to phone for help. If you think that it is strange because you thought you had 3/4 of a tank, shoot yourself instead. You are going to die anyway, and most likely be eaten.

October Business of the Month - Amicas

Amicas Pizza and Microbrewery was honored Sept. 2 as the September Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month.

Vaqueros joined owner Kathie Younghans and her staff for an awards ceremony at the restaurant in downtown Salida.
Specializing in wood-fired pizza and custom micro-brewed beers, the restaurant carries a name associated with Salida since Younghans took over in 2002.

The location was started in 1995 as Il Vicino, but the restaurant has featured wood-fired pizza since it began.

Younghans said Amicas is a great establishment and credited good service from a "fantastic" staff for keeping it that way.

She said at any given time the restaurant has about 30 part and full-time employees.

"They're so good I've been spending most of my time in Austin, (Texas). I'm just here now to check in and see how things are going," Younghans said.

Head brewer Mike LaCroix said things are going especially well regarding brewing. The restaurant won three gold medals at the Colorado State Fair.

Among the award winning brews are Amicas India Pale Ale, Amber Ale and Nigel's Rather Large Ale.

LaCroix said the restaurant has also been offering customized brewer's dinners to showcase locally produced food to accompany brews on tap.

"Since the day they opened in the early '90's, Amicas has set the bar for greatness in the arena of giving back to Salida," chamber director John Engelbrecht said. He referring to numerous local organizations and events they sponsor and support.

He continued, "Kathie and the entire crew have made it a priority to support activities and charities throughout Salida.

"Long overdue, this award reflects years of gratitude and appreciation for their commitment to make Salida the best place on earth."

New Chamber Member - Matchless Photography Colorado

Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce Vaqueros recently welcomed business partners Sarrahfiena Swett and Rachel Topping of Matchless Photography Colorado to membership.

Swett and Topping have years of combined personal and professional photography. Topping's grandmother, a former National Geographic Magazine photographer and photo journalist for the New York Times, helped nurture her photography skills.

In 2005 Topping and her grandparents attended the International Press Institute Convention in Nairobi, Africa where she learned portraits are best taken outdoors.

Swett said great portraits need "happiness and fresh air." Photographing rafters on the Arkansas River she captured exhilaration, strength, fun and togetherness.

Together they created Matchless Photography Colorado and agree their backdrop of choice is the favorite fishing hole, campsite, garden or landscape of the subject.

The studio is open 7 days a week. Offerings include preschool, student, family and pet portraits. Other subjects are weddings, inanimate objects, events and scenic or still photography for home or business.

For information, call Swett at 221-8694 or Topping at, 221-5051 or visit Matchlessphotoco@yahoo.com.
