14 ~ SAVOY-DOUCET CAJUN BAND - From Louisiana, Summit Series Under The Stars presents the renowned Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band; bringing the raw energy of the dancehalls of southwest Louisiana to the stage. Without peer, the band features the greatest Cajun accordionist and fiddle player of their generation MARC SAVOY and MICHAEL DOUCET. The trio is rounded out by 2006 Grammy nominee ANN SAVOY who brings a mix of almost girlish joie de vivre and passionate soul. 5pm Cajun Music & Culture Workshop taught by Michael Doucet, Marc Savoy and Ann Savoy, 6:30pm Cajun Dance Instruction, 8pm Savoy-Doucet Performance. In commemoration of the Zebulon Pike Bicentennial, the 40
piece Apline Orchestra will be joined by the Zebulon
Pike Ensemble, a trio of acoustic musicians who focus on
early Americana type music and provide a multi-media presentation.
The orchestra will also feature selections about the West by American
composer, Aaron Copland. The public is invited. There is no admission
charge. 7:30pm at the Salida Steamplant.

At the John Held Auditorium. Calliope! is an outstanding
production of musical highlights performed by local children aged
7-18. With a wide variety of music, dance and theatrics, people
of all ages will be thoroughly entertained. Staged in the John Held
Auditorium at Salida High School, lighting and costuming are at
their best. This show is oriented for family fun!
