6 ~ Alan Pursell and the Pale Riders. Your favorite Classic Country Western tunes performed live in the new SteamPlant Ballroom, Salida's newest dance floor. Alan Pursell is a local award winning vocalist and guitar player, backed up by his veteran Pale Rider Band, Dan Shufard (drums), Martin Epp (bass), Jimmy Trujillo (lead guitar), and Don Schilling (pedal steal). Only 200 tickets will be sold, get yours today at several ticket outlets in Salida and Buena Vista. $10. Doors Open 7:30.

 

8 ~ Presented by GARNA- The Geothermal Phenomenon from a Geological Point of View. Monday, March 8, 2010. Presenter: Dr. Fred Henderson. Dr. Henderson will delve into the geological explanation and history of the multiple Arkansas Valley hot springs. He will talk about what ‘geothermal’ means, where the sources are located, and how they have been used. Fred will also talk about the potential uses of geothermal energy in the future as well as Federal and State regulations and land owner rights protection. Time: 7:00 PM Location: To be determined. 12 ~ A Run Through Time Spaghetti Dinner - An official pre-race spaghetti dinner will be served in the Salida SteamPlant Ballroom on Friday night, from 5 - 7 pm. The dinner is open to runners, their families and the public. Get together for a night of carb loading before the race. We will be showing the movie Chariots of Fire and giving away great door prizes! Dinner includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, desert and beverages. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children. 14 ~ Heart of the Rockies Bridal Show Noon – 3pm The SteamPlant Event Center will host the 3rd Heart of the Rockies Bridal Show! The show will again be held in our beautiful Ballroom and Riverside Rooms. The exhibition is free to all visitors. They will be given a printed list of each participating vendor and asked to register with name, address, phone, email and planned wedding date. 14 ~ Walden Chamber Music performance - Sunday at 3:00pm SteamPlant Theater, 220 W. Sackett Ave., Salida, CO. Enjoy the sublime music of Mozart and Dvorak, and discover Kenji Bunch’s contemporary sound, performed by the Walden Chamber Music Society with Bing Wang, violinist, Barbara Sudweeks, violist, both from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Camilla Bonzo, cellist and Jo Boatright, pianist. They will present Mozart's "Piano Quartet in e flat, K.493", Kenji Bunch’s "Suite for viola and piano" (1998), and Dvorak's "Piano Quartet No.2 in E flat, Op. 87". A great afternoon at the concert with two of the most beloved classical composers and a modern twist! 28 ~ Veronica String Quartet concert—3 p.m., Sunday, SteamPlant Theater, 220 Sackett Ave., Salida, CO—performing music of Mozart, Dvorak and early 20th Century American composer Amy Beach. Veronika Afanassieva, violin; Karine Garibova, violin and Ekaterina Dobrotvorskaia, viola founded the VSQ in Moscow in 1989 and now include Mary Artmann, cello. They have toured to wide acclaim in Russia, Europe, Australia, Middle East and U.S. and currently serve as artists-in-residence at Colo. State Univ., Pueblo.
